Fog-et about it!

Today is May 7th and day 2 of the trail. This was a fun day, starting at 9am in Drymen and ending at around 3pm in Cashel with an hour break for lunch in between at Balmaha. I walked for a ways with a father/son duo and then I had way too much for lunch because I was so hungry 9 miles in, but I definitely regret it, since I had 3 more to go after that. It was sooo good though and I tried the haggis! I actually didn’t hate it. But by the time I was walking on the trail again I was so stuffed. Lesson learned! I ended the day at Cashel campsite by Loch Lomond which is three ish miles from Rowardennen (the actual end of today’s walk). Tomorrow will be very challenging, plus the extra 3 miles more, but we’ll see how it goes. Some campers here told me it took them 9 hours before ahhhh! I was pretty tired by the end of today, especially after the ascent and descent on Conic Hill. I’m trying to imagine having to do that plus another 6 miles… The Loch Lomond section at Balmaha is very beautiful here!

I hiked in the mist for the most part today and it started to clear up after I got over Conic Hill. The view was still cool but not nearly as good as on a clear day, so I was bummed. It’s been clearing up later in the day and it’s been super foggy in the morning so maybe I should just start later? Feels like every big hike I do with a few is getting fogged out on this trip. I hope that it will clear up soon.

Here are the stats for today:

11.75 miles

1,929 elev gain

4:41:24 moving time

23:57 average pace per mile

It’s being weird again with the photos, so I can’t post it.

That’s a butt kicking pace. It’s so cool that you are doing this on your own. Sounds like you are camping, how much weight are you carrying? Very impressive.

Wow, you tried the haggis! I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I’m impressed with everything . . . The haggis, the hiking and your amazing trip. You have ALL day to hike, you’ll be fine and you can eat whatever you want. Enjoy!
